Message From the Director
“All your children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace!” Isaiah 54:13
As I walk along the sidewalk of East McMicken Avenue, located in an area of Cincinnati known as “Over the Rhine,” it reminds me of the old neighborhood I once lived in as a youth; boarded-up houses and buildings and a poverty-stricken neighborhood where criminal activity and gun violence ring out almost daily. I can’t help but be thankful for the protection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the resources, gifts, and prayers that brought me through. Here at the Wesley Chapel Mission Center, I have seen God do it by allowing his agents of love to support our children and youth by unconditionally honoring Him with their gifts, resources, time, and talents. We cannot thank God enough for the individuals and organizations that continue to bless the hearts and souls of the children that we serve daily. You see; “It is not the poor children’s fault that they are poor!” I pray that you will not be restricted by your condition but be encouraged by the Spiritual Physician, Jesus Christ! We invite you to contact us or visit the Wesley Chapel Mission Center and see the awesome works that God is doing in our community. We also invite you to view us on social media for heartfelt videos of our ministry. God can do it! I know He did it for me!
Janine Shelborne, Executive Director
Our Vision
Wesley Chapel Mission Center is a trusted community haven that empowers children and families to live out Christ-like values, helping transform the surrounding community through service and faith-driven action.
Our Mission
Rooted in God’s love, we serve children and families in Over-the-Rhine so they can thrive in mind, body, and soul.
Our Values
Our values guide everything we do: we reflect Jesus, put children first, and engage fully in our mission and community.
Our History
Wesley Chapel Mission Center is an extension ministry of the United Methodist Church created from the assets, resources, efforts, dreams, and love of the members of the former Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. In 2003, the Center was established as a non-profit 501(c)(3) to provide an after-school program for the children in the neighborhood.
Wesley Chapel Mission Center lives out the legacy of the church, which was a servant church started in Cincinnati in 1802. It continues the practice of loving Jesus and serving others in our Over-the-Rhine community of Cincinnati.
