Cincinnati Police Department Victim Assistant Liaison Unit

The Cincinnati Police Department's Victim Assistant Liaison Unit(VALU) is a dedicated resource providing crucial support to individuals who have experienced trauma or victimization. Committed to assisting and empowering survivors, the VALU team offers a range of services, including:

  • Information about your rights as a Victim and assistance with filing for victim of crime compensation

  • Monthly support group and Youth Survivor Group

  • Crisis intervention services and Court accompaniment

  • individual short-term counseling

  • Liaison with detectives and investigators

  • Vine enrollment assistance and community resource referrals

Whether you've been affected by a crime or are seeking guidance on navigating the aftermath, Cincinnati PD VALU can provide help. Talbert House

Talbert House is a community-wide nonprofit network of services focusing on prevention, assessment, treatment, and reintegration. Services are provided at multiple sites throughout southwest Ohio for children, adults, and families. Talbert House provides services focused on five service lines which are Addictions, Community Care, Court and Corrections, Housing, and Mental Health. Some of their programs/initiatives include Crisis Stabilization, Engagement Center, Fatherhood Project, Mental Health and Substance Use Prevention, Supportive Housing, Veteran Services, and many more.

National Alliance on Mental Illness(NAMI)

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Southwest Ohio is a grassroots education, support, and advocacy organization originally founded as NAMI Hamilton County in 1979. They offer educational programs, support groups, and an information and referral phone line. They work together with their national organization (NAMI) and state affiliate (NAMI Ohio) to advocate for people living with mental illness and their families. Lighthouse Youth & Family Services

Lighthouse offers an integrated system of care for ages 0-24 designed to guide and track their progress over time. This includes mental and behavioral health services, youth housing, emergency shelter, community juvenile justice services, residential treatment, and foster care and adoption. Lighthouse provides a wide range of trauma-informed services to help young people and families heal and grow. Whether it’s therapy, residential treatment, foster care, emergency shelter, or housing, every young person receives personalized care and unconditional support to thrive. Lighthouse opened the first group home for girls in Ohio and has operated the first and only sanctuary for youth ages 10-17 in the Cincinnati area since 1974. Lighthouse is also a pioneer in the effort to end youth homelessness and is the lead agency in the KEYS to a Future Without Youth Homelessness initiative in Hamilton County. Best Point Education & Behavioral Health

Best Point Education & Behavioral Health (formerly The Children’s Home of Cincinnati and the St. Aloysius Orphanage) is the Greater Cincinnati region’s most prolific nonprofit specializing in education, behavioral, and therapeutic and autism services for vulnerable and at-risk youth. Best Point provides education and therapeutic treatment for children and their families facing social, behavioral, and learning challenges through their 30+ campus and community-based programs. Camelot Community Care Inc. is a nationally accredited child advocacy and mental health services provider that serves children and families experiencing abuse, neglect, behavioral health, and substance abuse issues. Shelterhouse

Shelterhouse (formerly the Drop Inn Center) works to provide basic human services for the men and women of the Greater Cincinnati area who are experiencing homelessness. Their primary commitment is to shelter – offering a place to stay for those in need now, and helping find and maintain a permanent place of residence for the future. Their two locations, The David and Rebecca Barron Center for Men and The Esther Marie Hatton Center for Women provide unconditional temporary housing, individual case management, and medical care and mental health services.
