Family Reading Night

Once a month | 5:30 - 7:30

One night a month, students and their families are invited to WCMC for a meal, fun activities, and time to read together as a family. Family Reading Night is an opportunity for families to spend time together, strengthen their reading skills, and be empowered by a supportive community.

Super Saturday

Any saturday | 12:30Pm - 3:00pm

This fun afternoon event is planned and implemented by groups of volunteers. After eating lunch at 12:30, our neighborhood children and the volunteers enjoy crafts, games, and other wholesome activities until 3:00 pm.

Technology Program

Tuesday/Thursday | 3:30 - 5:30

This enrichment program is held twice a week throughout the school year, led by Michael Beck (Founder and CEO of Code for Kids). Students are introduced to coding, robotics, drones, 3D printing, video editing, and green screens. This highly engaging program equips students with skills and knowledge that will help them to thrive in a high-tech world and get them interested in technology-related career fields.

Garden Club

This program, led by Christina Mathews, includes monthly hands-on garden activities, such as planting, harvesting, making wreaths, flower crowns, and other art projects in the People’s Community Garden (across from WCMC).

Discovery Trips

Periodic trips outside the neighborhood of Over-the-Rhine. On these trips, children are exposed to new ideas, possibilities, and experiences, and shown that there is a bigger world out there than what they see in their neighborhood. Some examples of past trips have been to COSI, The Cincinnati Museum Center, Eden Park, the Cincinnati Zoo, and the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.
